Further plumping up the boutique scene along McDermot Ave.—which now includes Commonwealth Blend and Katch 22—is October, which opened, as fate would have it, on Oct. 12.
Many of us have made the trip to October’s Grant Park boutique, adding it on to a Sunday trip to McNally or popping in before a movie, but now we can find cute coats, casual dresses, lots of denim (including Winnipeg-made 1921 jeans) and shoes, shoes, shoes while on our lunch break. Owner Beverly Kinahan is taking a pragmatic approach to stocking her new store, allowing customer feedback to fuel much of her spring/summer buying. “I will listen to them and buy what they want in this area,” she says. “People in the Exchange will have their own October.”
