 After seven years of creating print material and websites, the designers at Guppy Graphic Design have taken their wares to the street. To keep their creative juices flowing, the group started printing one-off T-shirts for friends and clients. Demand for the fresh, graphic tees grew and before you knew it, the city’s first studio store was born.
Co-owner Dave Champion-Taylor says their downtown space is perfect for them—located smack on the busy pedestrian corridor of Graham Avenue between Vaughan and Kennedy. The storefront allows shoppers a glimpse into the inner-workings of a graphic design agency, and provides the immediate consumer feedback that most fashion retailers would kill for. So after limited edition tees, cheeky buttons, caps and hoodies, what’s next? Champion-Taylor says the natural progression of their products could be anything from handbags, to furniture—promising that nothing will hold them back.
