Evolutionary and nostalgic at the same time, The Tallest Poppy has been slowly but surely luring foodies to its unassuming spot in the Red Road Lodge building on Main Street.
Progressive in its ability to accommodate a variety of appetites from vegans to meat-lovers, this lunch and breakfast spot takes us back via slow-cooked, family-style food. The ever-rotating menu is built from fresh, and often locally sourced, ingredients.
Recently featured dishes include a barbecued pork sandwich with baked beans and house made coleslaw, and bison brisket with horseradish aioli and fresh tomatoes. If that’s not enough to get you excited, fresh baked bread and homemade dessert is also on the menu daily. Saturday’s menu offers up tasty breakfast options but it’s Sunday’s brunch that would be a perfect start to a relaxed day. The brunch changes from week to week, is served up family-style on huge platters for sharing and is often a four-or five-course affair. A breath of fresh air for vegetarians, owner Talia Syrie insists there will always be veggie-friendly options. www.tallestpoppy.com — Amie Lesyk
